The USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins starred in an epic Big Ten championship game. Eventually, JuJu Watkins’ heroics were enough to keep her team afloat and win the pennant.

However, even though she’s one of the most spectacular and watched athletes in all of college basketball right now, people won’t remember this game because of her play.

Instead, they will remember it because of Lisa Byington. The CBS broadcaster made a bit of a blunder during the broadcast, and it went nuclear on social media.

Lisa Byington draws criticism for poor choice of words about JuJu Watkins.

“JuJu Watkins has caught the women’s basketball world by storm,” Byington said. “Certainly lit the world of Los Angeles on fire.”

JuJu Watkins #12 of the USC Trojans

Of course, it didn’t take long before people took offense at her comments, as the City of Los Angeles was hit by some brutal fires earlier in the year, including UCLA and USC campuses.

Then again, it’s more than evident that she didn’t mean any ill or harm with her comments. It was a figure of speech, albeit an unfortunate one, and she will definitely want to get that moment back.
