The college basketball scene has changed. It’s a poorly-kept secret that top-notch programs gave money and perks to get the top recruits, but now that the NIL era has made it legal, anybody can beat anybody.
Nevertheless, with something close to $10 million available in NIL money and a strong tradition, Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils could lead the race to get almost every prospect.
According to a report by Adam Zagoria, that could spell trouble for the UNC Tar Heels, as their lifelong rivals have now set their sights on one of their intended transfer portal targets: PG Xaivian Lee.
The Blue Devils want to get Xaivian Lee
“Duke, BYU and Stanford are involved as well for Princeton transfer PG Xaivian Lee,” reported Zagoria.
UNC and St. John’s were also expected to be in the mix to get the standout point guard, but the grass might be greener in Durham, as they‘re coming off a trip to the Final Four.
The Canadian point guard dominated last season, with averages of 16.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, and given the current picture for Hubert Davis’s team, it’s hard to make a case for him to take his talents to UNC over Duke.
