Over the past couple of years, several women have been instrumental in bringing eyeballs, attention, and money to the women’s college basketball scene. Some might say that the game has grown more than the men’s game.
And while she has yet to turn pro and will be out for a while, JuJu Watkins is partly responsible for that, becoming one of the most popular athletes over the past couple of years.
That’s why it only makes sense that the USC Trojans star gets her well-deserved recognition. With that in mind, the program’s X account celebrated her latest accomplishment.
JuJu Watkins gets nomination for huge award
“JuJu Watkins has been nominated for Sportswoman of the Year at the Beta Award,” the account posted.
Watkins has certainly earned this consideration. Just like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese before her, she’s been instrumental in the growth of the women’s college basketball scene.
Unfortunately, she sustained a major knee injury that will most likely keep her on the shelf for the entirety of next season, but if she returns and plays at her usual level, she will be one of the faces of the game for years to come.
