Aaron Boone continues to surprise some with his statements about the dismal situation the New York Yankees are currently facing. His latest strong assertion came regarding the team’s offense, which, despite its struggles, he believes is not a cause for concern.
In a direct question during a recent press conference about whether the Yankees‘ offense is capable of continuing to carry the team, Boone stated without hesitation that the offense is the least of anyone’s worries.
Boone was clear that while there are occasional offensive struggles with some players going through slumps at the plate, there are also good days. He added that the team currently has players who “…swing at bats well…”
Boone Was Not Mistaken
The Yankees were hoping their best bats would show power against the Twins, and they did just that to start the series. Boone was confident that those players would step up for the team, and they delivered with home runs from four different players.
While Boone didn’t mention any specific players by name, it’s clear one of the players he’s not worried about is Trent Grisham, who has been a key piece in helping the Yankees tie games or retake the lead with his home runs.
Good Hitters, But Not the Best
In the recent game against the Twins, the players who hit home runs were Cody Bellinger, Giancarlo Stanton, Austin Rice, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. Of those four, only Stanton is in the top three for batting average on the Yankees at .281, while the other three are hitting below .280. The team’s top average is led by Aaron Judge at .336.
