Bryce Harper might soon see a shake-up in Philadelphia Phillies the lineup, though not immediately. A teammate from four years ago is reportedly showing signs of recovery and could return to the outfield, potentially reclaiming his former position.
That player is Brandon Marsh. According to the latest report from Matt Gelb, Marsh recently played in a Triple-A game and could be available for the Phillies as soon as May 3 to play against the Diamdondbacks at home.
In the meantime, his spot has been filled by Johan Rojas, who’s done nothing but impress with his elite outfield defense and has been more productive than Marsh during his brief time holding down the position.

The Phillies would be losing a player who’s been hitting .300 consistently since mid-April and has continued to contribute at the plate. For Harper, it would mean losing the second-best right-handed bat on the team—an offensive setback.
Since Marsh went down, Rojas seized the opportunity and delivered. Despite often hitting at the bottom of the order, he’s tallied 7 RBIs, 6 runs, and a home run since April 16.

Marsh had a rough start to the season, managing just 3 runs and 4 hits over 17 games with a .095 batting average. But over the past two MLB seasons, he was a steady contributor with over 100 hits each year, batting .277 in 2023 and .249 in 2024. If he can get back into rhythm, he could still provide solid value to the Phillies.
