Francisco Lindor powered the New York Mets to victory with a pair of home runs, but for him, the most significant aspect of the game was undoubtedly the collective effort of his teammates, the majority of whom contributed hits, runs, and more.

“Yeah, okay, I had two home runs, but at the end of the day, guys had quality at-bats today and that’s why we won,” Lindor said, downplaying his key home runs in the victory against the Phillies, a game where the Mets‘ pitching also set a historic record.

Lindor’s current locked-in feeling, according to his own admission, is largely due to consistently having good quality at-bats this MLB season, which has helped him control the entire process at home plate. So far, he has five home runs in the current campaign.

Who Leads the Mets in Home Runs?

That category is currently led by Pete Alonso, who has six home runs. However, with Lindor’s hot streak of two consecutive games with home runs, it’s likely he could soon tie his teammate or even take over the lead.

Alonso hasn’t homered since April 19th, going two games without a long ball. Despite the possibility of Lindor surpassing him at any moment, it’s noteworthy that he has emphasized the importance of the Mets winning games.

Teamwork: The Key for the Mets

Lindor isn’t the only one who has spoken about prioritizing teamwork over personal records. Other teammates, like Juan Soto, also stated a couple of days ago that home runs aren’t his primary focus and that he came to the Mets to work as part of a team.
