The Los Angeles Clippers hit the ground running this season, beating the Los Angeles Lakers on opening night and then getting back at the Denver Nuggets on their following game. Sadly, they couldn’t keep up with that impressive 2-0 start when they met the Dallas Mavericks.

Clearly, Luka Doncic, Rick Carlisle, and the rest of the Mavericks had this game marked on their calendars after the Clippers beat them in the playoffs. It’s also worth noting that there were a couple of controversies and plenty of violence over the Slovenian star.

That’s why the Mavericks took it personally to beat the Clippers in a historical fashion, making the most of Kawhi Leonard’s absence to hand them a humiliating 124-73 loss. Needless to say, the NBA community was once again stunned and mocking the Los Angeles’ team.

For some reason, the Los Angeles Clippers are constantly making history. However, that’s not always a good thing. In fact, their terrible loss to the Dallas Mavericks gave us some breathtaking stats, according to Basketball Forever:

This game was over from the start. In fact, no Dallas Mavericks player even topped the 26-minute mark, yet Luka Doncic was nearly able to record a triple-double with 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists.

It’s still too early to overreact and the Clippers are still one of the teams to beat in the Western Conference. They won’t be this bad night in and night out, especially with Kawhi Leonard coming back shortly. Then again, this beatdown was just historically terrible.
