Celtics star Jaylen Brown names his pick for the GOAT point guard in NBA history

The NBA‘s definition of the “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT) debate continues to evolve. Most recently, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown shared his thoughts on the GOAT point guard debate, offering a surprising take.

Despite their rich history and present success, Brown named a player from a different franchise as the greatest point guard of all time. While names like Rajon Rondo and Bob Cousy are synonymous with Boston’s basketball legacy, Brown selected Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry.

“I’m going to go with Steph. I think Steph is the greatest PG of all time,” Brown said during an appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast. With that statement, Brown expressed his deep admiration for Curry and highlighted his remarkable 16-year career with the Warriors.

The reason behind Brown’s decision

With multiple options at his disposal, Celtics star Brown chose to go with Steph Curry. Curry’s shooting range, court vision, and leadership have been evident since his early days in the NBA.

“Obviously, point guard play has evolved. It’s not just about setting guys up anymore, but the way Curry shoots the three, when he’s on the floor, it opens up everything for everyone else. So, I’m going to go with Steph,” Brown explained.

Despite the emergence of other NBA stars, Brown opted for one of the league’s most influential players today. Curry’s ability to make the game look effortless has inspired countless players to elevate their own performances.

Brown praised Clippers star

Speaking about the physical demands of the NBA season, Brown reflected on the challenges of playing at over 240 pounds, noting the toll it takes on his knees and body. He also highlighted the remarkable durability of Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard.

“I have my own trainers and everything… knowing I exert a lot of energy on both ends while weighing 240 pounds, it’s a lot. There’s a lot of wear and tear on my body, especially on my knees when playing 70 games. I’m not just guarding bigs, I’m chasing point guards. People don’t get that,” Brown said. “The greatest I’ve seen do that at such a high level is Kawhi Leonard.”
