The Los Angeles Clippers have emerged as one of the favorites to make the playoffs this April, and they’ve been showcasing their potential in recent games. In their matchup on Tuesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, a team also favored to make the Finals, Kawhi Leonard was one of the standout performers, alongside Ivica Zubac.

Both Leonard and Zubac put on stellar performances, with additional contributions from James Harden and Bogdan Bogdanovic, leaving the Clippers looking strong. Fans are clearly excited, as they hope to see their team back in the playoffs this season.

Leonard is well aware of how his performance has been crucial to the team’s success, but he also highlighted another player who’s been steadily improving: Zubac. After the game, Leonard spoke to the media about Zubac’s growth and the progress he’s made.

“As the years go by, you get better. He definitely wasn’t ready to get the ball in the earlier years when I was here. He’s progressed. He wasn’t scoring on smaller players as easily, and he used to get the ball swiped out of his hands,” Leonard said following the Clippers’ 132-119 victory over the Cavaliers.

Leonard discusses Zubac’s growth and development

As Ivica Zubac continues to gain confidence on the court, Kawhi Leonard has taken notice of the strides the Croatian big man has made. Acknowledging past mistakes, Leonard highlighted how Zubac is now showing exactly why the Clippers acquired him.

“He’s being more aggressive. When it’s two defenders on him, he’s dunking the ball… As you get more touches, you start to get more patient… Just more efficient, too. His hook shots and everything,Leonard remarked, commenting on the improvements in Zubac’s play.

With Leonard’s statement in mind, combined with the team’s strong performance, the Clippers are positioning themselves well for a playoff run. With their roster in top shape, they’re emerging as one of the teams to beat in the quest for an NBA Finals appearance this season.

Zubac reflects on his performance against the Cavaliers

Known for his rebounding prowess, Zubac has also proven himself as a reliable scorer for the Clippers. Following a strong showing against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the 7-foot center shared his thoughts on his role in the NBA and his growing confidence.

“In this league, I feel like I can go head-to-head with the best of them. I’m glad the team is giving me the chance and opportunity to prove that on a nightly basis. It feels good, man,” Zubac said after the game.
