We all knew it was happening. We all saw it coming. But still, it feels great to witness NBA history in the making. That’s what happened last night when Stephen Curry once againwrote his name on the books.
Curry needed just 19 points to pass Wilt Chamberlain (who scored 17,783 points with the franchise) as the Golden State Warriors’ leading scorer and the best part is that it only took him 11 minutes to reach that milestone.
The two-time MVP ended the night with a whopping 53 points, leading his team to a huge comeback win over the Denver Nuggets to seal a perfect night and keep their playoff hopes alive.
Stephen Curry Joins Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, And James Harden On Exclusive Club
And if that wasn’t enough, Sam Amick of The Athletic reported that Curry’s 53-point explosion tied him with Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and James Harden as the only players to score 3 or more 50+ point games in a season since the NBA/ABA merger:
“Hell of a Steph Curry historical tidbit on the ESPN telecast just now: Curry is now one of four players who have had multiple seasons with three or more 50-plus point games since the 1976 merger. The others are pretty good, too: MJ, Kobe, and Harden,” Amick said on Twitter.
Even though a legend like Stephen Curry doesn’t have anything else to prove at this point in his career, it’s still remarkable to see that he can still amaze us any given night. He’s must-watch television even if you’re not a basketball fan.
I don’t get how people can still question this man’s legacy. He turned one of the worst franchises in the NBA into a dynasty and is one of the most influential players to ever set foot on a basketball hardwood. Enjoy him while you still can.
