Stephen Curry reveals what's holding the Golden State Warriors back

The Golden State Warriors have been way better than some NBA analysts thought early on after Klay Thompson’s season-ending injury. Nonetheless, they’re still far from the great team they were inthe past six years.

The Warriors have been plagued with inconsistency and their intensity has been on and off from stretches. Moreover, Stephen Curry’s supporting cast hasn’t been scoring the ball efficiently, especially Kelly Oubre Jr.

Needless to say, that has hurt the team’s chances to win close games, especially vs. contenders, and that inconsistency was once again in full display during last night’s loss to the Devin Booker-less Phoenix Suns.

Stephen Curry Admits The Warriors Haven’t Executed Well Late In Games

Once again, the Warriors just couldn’t keep up with the pace of their rivals and failed to execute over a couple of minutes, prompting Stephen Curry to admit that they just can’t get the job done playing that way:

“When the games are in the margins for us this year, the common theme is certain three-four minute windows we don’t play with the right intentions,” Curry said following the loss, as quoted by Nick Friedell.

It’s true that, other than Andrew Wiggins, the Warriors haven’t had a consistent scorer this season not named Stephen Curry, and that’s not going to help you win many games unless you have a historically great defense.

Rookie big man James Wiseman has shown glimpses of greatness but clearly, he still has a lot of mental conditioning and learning to do before being trusted with a long leash, while the Warriors’ bench hasn’t been particularly great either.

The Dubs still have plenty of talent to make a push and upset a couple of contending teams but theylook far away from the dominant force they were and want to be, so expect them to be buyers as we approach the trade deadline.
