The Super Bowl is probably the biggest event in every major American sport. The NFL always tries to put up an incredible show for fans and this year won’t be the exception, as they have big plans, even though the atmosphere won’t be the same.
Canadian superstar The Weeknd is ready to make history this next February 6 in the Super Bowl LV halftime show when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host Kansas City Chiefs, trying, as always, to surpass what other big artists did and deliver for fans around the world.
We’ve seen pretty good performances over the years but only a handful of them can make it to the top 10. Today, we’re going to see some of the best presentations in Super Bowl history. This event has evolved over the years and it’s time to go through the best halftime shows in the biggest game of the NFL.
10. Katy PerrySuper BowlXLIX Halftime Show
Katy Perry was selected for the big game and plenty of fans didn’t like the decision. However, she delivered, going through her best hits and even giving fans a viral moment with the left shark that was just out of sync. The Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks in a memorable game that saw Perry have a great performance.
9. Diana RossSuper Bowl XXX halftime show
Just like Perry, Diana Ross was believed to be a safe show for the Super Bowl halftime. Back in 1996, she shocked the world with her performance, combining good music with a big performance that included a change of outfit during almost every song. The Super Bowl XXX saw the Dallas Cowboys beat the Pittsburgh Steelers.
8. Aerosmith, NSYNC, Britney Spears Super BowlXXXV halftime show
This was a trailblazer presentation by all these artists. It was a combination of “old” stars with the new generation that saw plenty of changes in the Super Bowl halftime show. It was the first time the public was allowed to surround the stage, something that is normal today. Aerosmith was joined by NSYNC, Britney Spears, and more to create a very good show. The Super Bowl XXXV saw the Baltimore Ravens beat the New York Giants.
7. Janet Jackson Super BowlXXXVIII halftime show
This is probably the most famous Super Bowl halftime show ever, along with the first position on the list. Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake starred in a very controversial moment back in 2004. It was a pretty good show regardless of Jackson and Timberlake’s fiasco, they put up a very good show. Super Bowl XXXVIII saw the New England Patriots beating the Carolina Panthers.
6. Shakira and Jennifer LopezSuper Bowl LIV halftime show
Plenty of people have named this show the closing of the world in 2020. The world wasn’t ready for what was going to happen one month after this show, where Jennifer Lopez and Shakira did a pretty good job. They had Latino artists J Balvin and Bad Bunny as guests, delivering a great show for fans around the world. The Super Bowl LIV saw the Kansas City Chiefs beating the San Francisco 49ers.
5. The WHOSuper Bowl XLIV halftime show
This is considered the last good Super Bowl halftime for Rock purists. The WHO landed in Miami in 2010 to bring some fire for the fans at Super Bowl XLIV. This can be loved and hated by fans but this time, we put him as No. 5. This SB saw the New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts.
4. BeyoncéSuper Bowl XLVII halftime show
Beyoncé has always been a great performer and when she had the chance to bring her magic to the Super Bowl, the queen didn’t miss. She made a statement using only female performers on the stage while reuniting with Destiny’s Childs for a great presentation. Super Bowl XLVII saw the Baltimore Ravens beating the San Francisco 49ers.
3. MadonnaSuper Bowl XLVI halftime show
Madonna left everybody in awe with her performance in Super Bowl XLVI. She was joined by LMFAO, Ceelo Green and even rising star Nicki Minaj, who put more spice to the show. The queen of pop really went off that night and combining her talents with good songs and a LED-lit stage, she stole the show. Super Bowl XLVI saw the New York Giants beating the New England Patriots.
2. Lady Gaga Super Bowl LI halftime show
Lady Gaga has also been known for being an incredible performer and even though she didn’t bring any guests to his presentation, she still put up a big show. The pop singer went through her biggest hits and didn’t disappoint, showing a constellation of drones plus more tech and futuristic features in her presentation. Super Bowl LI saw the New England Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons.
1. PrinceSuper Bowl XLI halftime show
It doesn’t get better than this. Prince was a one-man show in 2007 and when everything looked bad for him, the singer felt stronger and delivered for the fans at the Hard Rock Stadium. He was just jamming, trying to enjoy his own show with the public and using the rain in his favor. Prince really shocked everybody at that time and it’ll be hard to top what he did that night 14 years ago. Super Bowl XLI saw the Indianapolis Colts beat the Chicago Bears.
