Lamar Jackson is ready to finally make a Super Bowl run with the Baltimore Ravens. But before that, there is the preseason. The team’s opener is against the Indianapolis Colts and people are wondering if the two-time MVP will suit up.
And unfortunately, if you’re trying to catch some of Lamar Jackson’s magic tonight, you’re up for disappointment. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has confirmed the team’s strategy is to keep Lamar fresh and healthy for games that actually matter.
This is not that surprising, as the last preseason snaps Jackson’s had are back in 2021. For the last four years, Jackson has not been a part of the Ravens preseason games. He gets ready for the NFL regular season.
Who will be the Colts quarterback?
As for the Colts, coach Shane Steichen announced after the Indianapolis’ joint practice on Tuesday that Anthony Richardson Sr. will start against Baltimore. This is not an indication on who’s winning the quarterback battle, per Steichen. It was also revealed that Daniel Jones will start the next preseason game.
Both quarterbacks had great preseason sessions as they excelled in the joint practice vs. Ravens on Tuesday. As for Richardson, Steichen said that he will play about “a quarter and a half“. Jones will have some action, but only half a quarter, per the team’s head coach.
Who will be the Ravens quarterback vs. Colts?
With Jackson sidelined, it’s likely that former Cowboy Cooper Rush will take the field. The other QB listed on the depth chart is Devin Leary, who might see some action as well.
It’s a slim quarterback room right now for Baltimore, but that should be better for the backups, who will have more time to impress John Harbaugh and cement themselves as Jackson’s first replacement.
