The New England Patriots aren’t going through the best moment right now in the 2020/21 NFL. They haven’t been this bad for a long time and their fans need answers. Tom Brady left the team the past offseason to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is having a great season, leading the NFC South after eight weeks.

Meanwhile, the Pats are 2-5, ranking 3rd in the AFC East, trailing the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins, respectively. The experiment of Cam Newton hasn’t gone well for them and they know things need to change very quickly.

Newton is aware that his team needs to step up if they want to compete this season. He landed in New England with not so many expectations and even though things started well for him, that changed in recent weeks.

Cam Newton admits the Patriots need to win at any cost

Cam has taken responsibility for the Patriots’ bad moment and their four consecutive losses. However, he has claimed he has the key to turn things around in Foxboro and get things back on track for the 2019 NFL champions.

“Just the vibe that you get in that locker room is we just need one,” Newton said, via WEEI on Monday. “Going back and knowing this team as well as I do know this team, coming off of that Raiders win, I think everybody had a full head of steam and momentum. Then obviously what happened with COVID and everything like that, it’s just been a slippery slope, walking down a slippery aisle trying to regain your footing. One thing I do know about this team is once we get that first one, that next one is almost, ‘OK, we remember how to win. OK, we know how this feels. This is where situational football kicks in, let’s do a better job of doing this, that and the third.”

Cam’s tenure with the Pats started very well but after he was hit by COVID-19, he started struggling and so did his team. Now they’re 2-5 and Newton is still trying to recover his best form without success.

He appears to know what the team is missing to get back to winning ways, but it remains to be seen if they actually apply it on the field.
