Aaron Rodgers continues to stay silent, but word on the street is that he’s already picked his team for the 2025 NFL season. According to Noah Strackbein of Sports Illustrated, people around the league think that the 41-year-old will choose the Pittsburgh Steelers over the Minnesota Vikings.

“Speaking to executives and sources at the NFL League Meetings, the sentiment is that Rodgers is going to sign with the Steelers. When? There’s no answer to that just yet, but the expectation is that he has picked Pittsburgh,” Strackbein wrote on Monday.

Rodgers took another step to test a possible move to Mike Tomlin’s Steelers by having a throwing session with wide receiver DK Metcalf over the weekend at UCLA. Earlier in the month, he visited the team’s facility.

Rodgers expected to play for Steelers in 2025 NFL season

Even though the Vikings kept the door open on a potential move for the 4x NFL MVP, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network echoes the sentiment that Rodgers will end up signing with the Steelers.

Aaron Rodgers of New York Jets looks on during the NFL match between New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 06, 2024 in London, England.

During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on Monday, the insider reported that the workout between Rodgers and Metcalf was satisfactory, which could give the quarterback yet another reason to play in Pittsburgh.

Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf had a planned throwing session and it went very well,” Rapoport said. “My general feel is that he’s gonna be a Pittsburgh Steeler but we’ll wait and see until it’s final.”

Rodgers could announce his decision during draft week

Even though Tomlin denied setting a deadline and Rodgers will continue to take as long as he wants to confirm his final decision, Rapoport believes that the veteran quarterback could announce his next move by the end of April.

“The Steelers haven’t put a deadline on anything… I don’t know when Aaron Rodgers is gonna make a decision but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was draft week,” Rapoport added.
