Although the 2025 NFL season is still a long way off, many teams and players are already looking forward to the campaign, with sky-high expectations. On that note, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow made a bold wish about his team’s matchup against Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins.
Every franchise in the NFL is already well aware of who they will be facing during the upcoming campaign, it remains to be known the exact date of these meetings during the season.
In the case of the Miami Dolphins, there’s an extra twist: they’ll be playing one home game far from Miami Gardens, in Madrid, Spain. The Bengals know they’ll face Tua’s Dolphins on the road, and it seems Burrow is hoping that game will take place on the Old Continent. As rumors swirl about the Bengals being heavy favorites to face the Dolphins at Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, Burrow made his three-word wish clear.
“Please be true,” Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow stated on an Instagram story in his personal account.
Miami has become a dream destination for opposing players—except for its suffocating heat, which is amplified by Hard Rock Stadium’s design, placing the away team directly under the sun’s rays. Therefore, it’s only logical that Burrow would prefer to face Tua and the Dolphins elsewhere. And what better place than Madrid, Spain? Plus, a week on a tapas diet can’t be too bad, either.
Last meeting
Burrow’s Bengals and Tagovailoa’s Dolphins last met during the 2022 season, with Cincinnati winning 27-15. However, the game is most remembered for Tua’s heart-wrenching concussion, which marked the beginning of a dramatic year for the franchise QB in South Florida.
During the 2025 season, the first and fifth overall selections of the 2020 NFL Draft will face off once again. The careers of these star quarterbacks have been intertwined for years, dating back to their sensational college seasons, from historic Alabama-LSU showdowns to the comparisons leading up to the Draft.
Hopefully, fans will get to witness a full shootout between the two signal-callers during the 2025 season, and maybe it will take place in one of the world’s most iconic venues across the Atlantic.
