The Baltimore Ravens will once again look to be serious contenders next season in the NFL, but this time, the ultimate goal will be to reach the Super Bowl. To achieve this, the front office successfully managed to retain a key piece of the team’s offense, an ideal partner for Lamar Jackson.
Patrick Ricard, the historic fullback for John Harbaugh’s team, will remain with the franchise for one more year. This is definitely great news not only for Jackson but for the offense as a whole.
The news was announced by Senior NFL Insider for The Athletic, Diana Russini, who shared the agreement between the former Maine player and the Ravens via her official X (formerly Twitter) account.
“The Ravens are re-signing FB Patrick Ricard to a one-year, fully guaranteed deal, per source,” Russini stated via @DMRussini.
Ricard joined the franchise in 2017 as an undrafted player. He has played a total of 121 regular-season games, scoring 7 rushing touchdowns. In the postseason, he has played 8 games but has yet to find the end zone.
A historic OL is leaving the Ravens
As NFL rosters slowly begin to take shape, the Baltimore Ravens are no exception. In this case, they have released a historic offensive lineman, who is now heading to the Jaguars of Trevor Lawrence.
Patrick Mekari, who spent several years as Lamar Jackson’s primary protector, is heading to the AFC South in search of new opportunities for the upcoming season.
“Source: Jaguars reached agreement with former Ravens OL Patrick Mekari,” NFL insider Adams Schefter reported via @AdamSchefter.
What’s next for the Ravens?
The main goal remains the same: to have an excellent season and, why not, dream of reaching the Super Bowl. The fact that both Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry are staying on the roster is a relief for HC Harbaugh.
From now on, it will be a matter of waiting to see which option turns out to be the solution in the upcoming draft, and whether there’s still a chance to add a big name during this offseason.
