It’s clear that Josh Allen is one of the most gifted talents in today’s NFL. As a result, comparisons come with the territory — and the Bills star wasn’t spared this time. On this occasion, it was a Super Bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles, alongside Jalen Hurts, who made an interesting comparison between the former Wyoming standout and another fellow quarterback.

Milton Williams, one of the most high-profile recent additions to the New England Patriots, earned a Vince Lombardi trophy earlier this year with Nick Sirianni’s Eagles in New Orleans.

In a recent appearance on The Green Light with Chris Long podcast, the defensive end not only expressed his eagerness to face none other than Bills quarterback Josh Allen, but also drew a bold comparison between Allen and former NFL MVP Cam Newton.

“So, I haven’t got to play him yet. Since I got here just talking with (Christian) Barmore, he was like, ‘Yeah, Josh Allen is probably the hardest quarterback I’ve had to bring down.’ Just big, fast, he kind of reminds me of Cam Newton. I compare him to Cam Newton, just being that big, being that mobile, having such a big arm, make any throw. It’s going to be a challenge, but I’m up for it. I’m up for it for sure.”

Cam Newton attends the BET Awards Media House on June 29, 2024 in Los Angeles, California.

Eventually, Williams will get his wish to face off against Allen — at least twice during the regular season. With the defensive end now joining the Patriots, both players will share the AFC East, setting up a compelling divisional showdown that could happen two times this season.

The Patriots’ defensive rebuild

The arrival of Mike Vrabel as the new head coach of the Patriots brought a fresh wave of change through Foxborough. One of the team’s biggest shortcomings last season came on the defensive side of the ball. The addition of Milton Williams is expected to boost that unit’s overall quality, and the defensive end has already expressed his excitement about teaming up with Keion White.

“Keion White, I see a lot of myself in him,” Williams said. “Just how he carries himself, how how he goes about his business, how he works. Similar body type. 6-4, 6-5, 280 (pounds), 290. Fast. Strong. Got everything in the toolbox to really line up wherever, having that versatility to play inside, outside. I pride myself on being able to do the same thing. So, I already told him, like, if we end up on the same side when it’s time to go rush, it’s gonna get nasty. It’s gonna get nasty for sure.”

The greatest triumph in Williams’ career

Wearing the colors of the Philadelphia Eagles, Milton Williams was part of the team that captured the Super Bowl title on February 9, alongside Jalen Hurts. The Caesars Superdome played host to the championship clash, where the Eagles defeated Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs 40–22. Williams had a standout performance, recording two sacks, forcing a fumble, and recovering it as well.
