The 2026 NFL preseason can be a great test for teams, but it can also come with the risk of injuries. Joshua Ezeudu suffered an injury in the game against the Miami Dolphins, but New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh said it is nothing serious and that the offensive lineman will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.

Ezeudu suffered a hard blow to one of his legs after a teammate rolled up on it. In addition, Harbaugh revealed to the media that Francis Mauigoa suffered a stinger and is expected to return to practice with his teammates this week.

The first images of No. 75 getting up from the field in discomfort alarmed everyone. Fortunately for everyone in New York, it appears he is not facing any major risks heading into what’s next.

Harbaugh’s physical style of play requires his players to be at 100%, and both Ezeudu and Mauigoa are important pieces of this project. For now, it appears both should be available for the start of the season in Week 1.

The role of Ezeudu and Mauigoa on the Giants

The new era in East Rutherford with the arrival of a new coaching staff also means a different work culture from what the team had been doing before. Harbaugh is emphasizing a more physical style of play, which could make the roles of both Joshua Ezeudu and Francis Mauigoa particularly important.

Both players are listed on the depth chart as guards, alongside Evan Neal, although they could also line up at tackle if needed. Their primary goal is to protect Jaxson Dart and make sure he takes as few hits as possible.

The Giants’ imposing offensive line

If completely healthy for Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys, the G-Men starting offensive line features Andrew Thomas on the left side alongside guard Jon Runyan Jr., with John Michael Schmitz holding down the middle at center. The right side is anchored by rookie Francis Mauigoa taking over at right guard, paired with Jermaine Eluemunor at right tackle, giving New York a far more aggressive and physical front to counter Dallas’ front seven.

Final game before the start of the season

After winning both of their preseason games—first against the Minnesota Vikings and then against the Dolphins—Harbaugh’s Giants will wrap up their preseason on familiar ground. Next Friday, August 28, they will close out their preparation against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in the Big Apple rivalry.
