Patricks Mahomes reveals why the Chiefs came up short in loss to the Raiders

It goes without saying that the Kansas City Chiefs are the team to beat in the NFL again this season. They feature one of the most – if not the most – explosive offense in the history of the game, are well-coached, and, obviously, have Patrick Mahomes as their starting quarterback.

The Chiefs kicked off their Super Bowl champions season with four straight wins and even though there were a couple of times when they struggled to live up to expectations, they still found a way to beat their peers.

However, their winning streak came to an end when they traveled to Las Vegas to face Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders, falling 40-32 in a thrilling shootout as they just couldn’t get stops down the stretch.

Patrick Mahomes Says The Chiefs Didn’t Execute Well In The Second Half

And, according to reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, they’re the ones to blame for that tough loss, as they just couldn’t execute the way they wanted in the second half of the game:

“I think we just didn’t execute at a high enough level. In the first half, we started off well. We executed at a high level,” Mahomes said. “Obviously, we had some penalties call some stuff back. In the second quarter, we kind of made plays happen, but we weren’t executing at a high enough level. In the third quarter, we couldn’t execute because we weren’t running the plays the right way, and I wasn’t finding the right reads. That carried over and we obviously didn’t play the second half like we wanted to,” Patrick concluded.

Mahomes is certainly right. The Raiders shut them down in the third quarter and Kansas City could only score 8 points in the final 30 minutes of the game. Hopefully, they’ll get back on track in time for their matchup with the red-hot Buffalo Bills next Monday night.
