As the Los Angeles Rams enjoyed a strong season last year, one standout performer was Puka Nacua. With hopes high for another Super Bowl run, the Rams announced on Monday the addition of Davante Adams from the New York Jets.

Adams joined the Jets last season after leaving the Las Vegas Raiders, reuniting with his former Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers. However, their reunion didn’t go as planned, as the Jets struggled throughout the season and failed to reach the playoffs.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, the Rams are counting on Nacua and Adams to strengthen their offense. Following the announcement of Adams’ arrival, Nacua shared his thoughts during an appearance on the St. Brown Podcast, delivering a memorable three-word reaction.

“I was at my teammate’s wedding out in Virginia,” Nacua recalled. “They had just finished their first dance when I felt my phone buzz. I pulled it out and answered immediately, no hesitation. I just turned around and said, ‘What’s up, Coach?’ He said, ‘I just wanted to call you and see what you thought about us getting Davante Adams.’

Nacua continued: “I was like, ‘For real?’ and he said, ‘We’re in some negotiations, but I wanted to check in with you first.’ I just told him, ‘Appreciate you, Coach, let’s do it.'”

Will Nacua give up his number for Adams?

With plenty of changes happening in the Rams’ locker room, Nacua recently addressed whether he would give up his jersey number to his new teammate, Adams. During a conversation with Amon-Ra St. Brown, Nacua made it clear he had no intention of parting with his number, even if Adams offered a hefty sum for it. “I don’t think I’ll do it for $2 million,” Nacua stated.

While Nacua appears firm on keeping his jersey number, he may still play a key role in helping Adams adjust to his new surroundings. With his positive personality and leadership qualities, Nacua could be instrumental in helping the star receiver connect with his new teammates and adapt to the Rams’ system.

Nacua reflects on playoff loss to the Eagles

The Rams’ strong season came to an abrupt end in the playoffs when the Philadelphia Eagles showcased why they were considered one of the league’s top teams. Reflecting on that disappointing finish, Nacua shared his candid thoughts on what went wrong.

This year, I thought we should have beaten the Eagles for sure,” Nacua said. “Then we would have played the Commanders at home, and I think we would have washed them. But as we saw, things didn’t go our way.”
