Since the start of the season, one of the main concerns for the Pittsburgh Steelers has been the physical wear and tear on Aaron Rodgers. At nearly 42 years old, the belief in the air is that this will be his final season in the NFL. In that sense, head coach Mike Tomlin’s team must pay close attention to how A-Rod is feeling.
Over the first four games he has played with the Steelers, Rodgers has endured nine sacks and 21 quarterback hits, along with minor issues such as lower back stiffness and a hand knock after colliding with a helmet on a handoff.
Considering his unfortunate past, like suffering a major injury in his debut with the New York Jets, Rodgers will have to take care of himself, and the Steelers must keep him at full strength. Ahead of the bye week, the veteran quarterback revealed what his main goal will be during the few days of rest.
Rodgers speaks about his bye week plan
After the win over the Minnesota Vikings in Ireland, Rodgers appeared on NFL GameDay Final with Pam Oliver and said: “I’m going to get myself healthy … I’m gonna do some body work. I’m gonna relax a little bit. It’s one of those rare early bye weeks,” A-Rod explained.
“The bye week comes at a good time to get guys like Jaylen (Warren) or Joey (Porter) back. We’ve got a division game waiting for us, so we’re going to enjoy it. It’s a long trip, it feels much better after a win,” Rodgers added following the victory over Minnesota in Ireland.
Will Rodgers retire next year?
No one within the Steelers knows with full certainty what Rodgers will do with his future. While the Pittsburgh quarterback has stated that he plans for this to be his last season as a professional, he dropped an intriguing remark after the win over the Vikings, saying he would love to return to Dublin with the team next year.
