Mitch Marner left Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs to begin a new chapter in his career with the Golden Knights. During an interview with W.G. Ramirez, Jack Eichel warned about the impact the Canadian star will have in Vegas.
“Obviously, it’s an incredible signing in addition to our team. A world-class player and somebody whose game I really admire and respect. Somebody who can create so much and do so much in different areas of the game. I had some brief conversations with Mitch, and everyone that I’ve spoken to that knows him, that’s been around him, has the best of things to say about him. So we’re super excited to have him in Vegas.”
The Golden Knights made the surprising trade with one clear goal: to end the Florida Panthers’ dynasty led by Brad Marchand and reclaim the Stanley Cup, just as they did in the 2022-2023 season.
Who did the Golden Knights sign?
Mitch Marner just signed as the newest member of the Golden Knights following a trade with the Maple Leafs. In return, Toronto received Nicolas Roy in the deal. This way, Vegas avoided letting Marner test free agency and secured a star player.
Despite being the best team in the Pacific Division with 50 wins, last season ended on a bittersweet note for Eichel and the Golden Knights, as they fell in the second round of the playoffs to Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers. That’s why Marner could be the key to getting revenge in the West.
