Ecuador qualified to the World Cup automatically after finishing second in the CONMEBOL qualifiers. The South Americans have played 10 games against African teams. Ecuador have won four, drawn two, and loss four in those games.

As for Morocco, they come as the reigning AFCON champions after losing the final on the field, but being granted the title due to Senegal breaking the rules by leaving the pitch in protest for a moment. That made the African Federation to grant the win to Morocco as that counted as Senegal forfeiting the game.
