Now, just weeks before the start of the 2024 campaign, Deion Sanders is getting ready for a massive change for Colorado: a return to the Big 12. That move could represent more than $30 million for the university thanks to new television deals.
Deion Sanders understands pressure comes with spotlight in Colorado
Deion Sanders was asked during the Big 12 media day if he feels more pressure than other head coaches because of his amazing career as a player and the spotlight he brought to Colorado. Of course, Coach Prime sent a warning about what he brings to the table compared to other teams.
“Yes. I’m judged on a different scale. My wins are totally different than your wins. Your wins, you’re just judging football. That’s why I have to start out and give you education and academics and so forth. I have to give you those things so you understand there’s a greater scope.”
In the end, although Colorado became a national sensation during the 2023 season, Deion admits the critics won’t stop. The expectations are way different than other programs in the country.
“I can’t win nine games and our GPA suffers. Our GPA can’t be high, but we lose another eight games. My wins are different. We have to win in every area. That’s the way we’re judged. I’m cool with that because we come a little different. So, the expectations are greater.”
