The Indiana Fever continue their strong run in the WNBA’s Eastern Conference and face another key challenge today as they look to close the gap with the league leaders. It won’t be an easy task, with the Los Angeles Sparks on the other side — especially given the uncertainty surrounding Caitlin Clark’s availability for this crucial matchup.
Still recovering from a right groin injury, one of the league’s brightest stars has once again been ruled out and will not see action on the court for Stephanie White’s team.
The news was confirmed by reporter Angela Moryan and later shared by the official X account (formerly Twitter) of WISH-TV News, which noted that while there’s still no clear timeline for her return, it appears to be sooner rather than later.
“Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark ruled out for Tuesday’s game in Los Angeles, will be her eighth straight game missed due to groin injury,” it was reported via @WISHNews8.
The Indiana Fever will play against the Los Angeles Sparks today, August 5, at 10:00 PM Eastern Time. This crucial game will be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
Finding ways to win without Clark
There’s no doubt that being without one of the WNBA’s top players can be a major blow for any team. Even so, the Fever have managed to bounce back in Caitlin Clark’s absence — something head coach Stephanie White acknowledged in her comments to the media.
“I think I said it early when C was out the very first time, you know while we don’t like (that she’s out), sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise, because everybody else finds themselves and no one is afraid to make the big play offensively or defensively,” the HC stated in a report from Indianapolis Star’s Chloe Peterson.
“We got a really good group that’s unselfish, that wants to win, that plays well together and for each other. When one person doesn’t have it, somebody else does. I think it makes us really, really difficult to scout,” she also added.
