The Kentucky Wildcats made a big gamble when they chose Mark Pope to be John Calipari’s successor in charge of the program. So far, that gamble has paid off.

Needless to say, the team has yet to reach the heights it reached in the past, and they’re no longer the program to beat for the top-notch commits. Even so, they’re still a powerhouse.

That’s why, after assessing their roster and the recent moves they made, college basketball legend Dick Vitale had some good news for Coach Pope and company. He listed them No. 11 ahead of next season.

Mark Pope reloads again, folks. Otega Oweh and Brandon Garrison will be looking to lead an incredible group of transfers, including Jayden Quaintance, Jaland Lowe, and Mouhamed Dioubate. The Wildcats are roaring loud in Lexington,” he wrote.

This means that the Wildcats enter the season in third place among SEC teams, trailing only the reigning national champions Florida Gators, and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Of course, anything can happen from now until March Madness, but even if they don’t have the most talented roster in college basketball anymore, the Wildcats are still a force to be reckoned with.
