South Carolina’s Dawn Staley breaks the silence on A’Ja Wilson’s massive accomplishment

Former South Carolina Gamecocks star A'Ja Wilson is the best player in the world right now, and coach Dawn Staley gave her some flowers for her latest accomplishments.

Legendary coach Dawn Staley has remained close to A’ja Wilson, one of her former players on the South Carolina Gamecocks. Staley has never shied away from supporting her former center and didn’t miss the chance to praise her for her latest achievement.

Staley visited the Nike store in Las Vegas, the city where the former No. 1 overall pick lives. The visit responded to the Oregon-based company’s campaign to promote Wilson’s first signature shoe, the A’One. The coach took to Instagram and shared a series of pictures from her visit while praising Wilson’s career success.

Dawn Staley, A’ja Wilson have a strong relationship since their South Carolina days

Dawn Staley became one of the most important people in A’ja Wilson’s life when the Las Vegas Aces superstar joined and represented Staley’s Gamecocks between 2014 and 2018. They won the program’s first national title together in 2017 before Wilson left to become a huge star in the W.

Wilson played 138 games under Staley, averaging 17.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game, shooting 55% from the field, 37.5% from deep and 71.5% from the free-throw line. She was selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the Aces in 2018, and the rest, as they say, was history.
