The NCAA is punishing head coach Penny Hardaway and the Memphis basketball program for academic fraud, according to a report by NBC Sports insider Nicole Auerbach.



They will have to deal with a two-year probation and a $30,000 fine. On top of that, they will be fined 1% of the combined budgets of the softball and basketball programs.



Apparently, two players from the softball teams provided test answers to players from the basketball team. To add insult to injury, the NCAA called for a vacation of all the records of games in which those athletes played, as they’re now ineligible.

“Memphis is hit with two-year probation + fine for academic fraud. An academic counselor paid softball players to do coursework and/or provide test/quiz answers for men’s basketball players,” Auerbach wrote on X.

The two players, Ally Callahan and Aaliyah Dixon, were reportedly paid to complete coursework for former basketball player Malcolm Dandridge. That will lead to the vacation of 20 combined games in which the two softball players and the basketball player competed.



This isn’t the first time that Hardaway has dealt with this type of stuff, as he also faced trouble in 2022 due to multiple violations regarding the recruiting of James Wiseman.

Standing at 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m), Azzi Fudd strikes a balance between guard agility and wing versatility. That size allows her deadly perimeter shooting and the ability to defend multiple positions—a rare blend that’s become her trademark.

Azzi Fudd didn’t just discover basketball—she was born into it. Her mother, Katie Smrcka-Duffy, played college ball at NC State and Georgetown before being drafted by the Sacramento Monarchs in the 2001 WNBA Draft.

While she keeps much of her personal life private, she has been linked to fellow UConn star Paige Bueckers, with whom she shares not only the backcourt but also a close friendship that has drawn speculation and admiration from fans.



<h2>Azzi Fudd’s injury</h2>



Injuries have been a recurring chapter in Azzi Fudd’s otherwise stellar journey. Her first major setback came in 2019, when she tore her ACL and MCL during a USA Basketball 3×3 event, a devastating injury for any athlete—especially one in high school with national attention.



She underwent surgery and missed the entire summer circuit but returned to dominate her senior year at St. John’s College High School in D.C. Her injury woes didn’t stop there. During her freshman season at UConn, she missed several games with a foot injury.



And in November 2023, just before her junior season, she suffered another torn ACL and meniscus in her right knee during practice—another crushing blow. It sidelined her for the entire 2023–24 campaign, forcing her to watch from the bench while her team pushed on without her.



Through it all, she showed not just physical resilience, but mental strength. She spent months in rehab, leaning on her family, teammates and coaching staff. Her return in 2024 marked a turning point—not only was she back, but she played with renewed intensity and maturity.

The Kentucky Wildcats might no longer be at the top of the recruiting rankings. Nevertheless, even in the NIL era and without John Calipari, they’re still a force to be reckoned with.



Coach Mark Pope has taken an interesting approach to recruiting and roster-building, and he’s landed some intriguing prospects in his short time in charge of the program. 



With that in mind, ESPN analyst Jeff Borzello believes that transfer guard Jaland Lowe is about to take <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> by storm and be the Wildcats’ X-Factor this season.

“Jayden Quaintance is the highest-ranked transfer arriving in Lexington, but there are questions about his availability after he suffered a torn ACL in late February. So, we’re going with Lowe, a third-team All-ACC selection at Pitt last season who will have to adjust his game in coach Mark Pope’s offense. Surrounded by a slew of shooters, however, he’s likely to be more efficient,” he wrote.

Of course, this is just a projection. He needs to stay healthy first and foremost, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see him be one of the team’s primary offensive forces right out of the gate.



The Wildcats might not be the highest-ranked team in the pre-season rankings, but they’re the last team anybody will want to come across in a win-or-go-home situation.

JuJu Watkins is one of the most talented players in all of college basketball, and we’re not talking just about the women’s game. She has the makings of a superstar.



That’s why even WNBA stars already envision her being one of the faces of the league. In a recent player poll conducted by The Athletic, she came in second place.



Unsurprisingly, Indiana Fever and Iowa legend Caitlin Clark got the bulk of the votes, but it was interesting to see Watkins still beat players who have been in the pros for years.

“Clark received 53.8 percent of the vote from 39 respondents asked to name the face of the WNBA in five years,” reported Wells. “Interestingly, the No. 2 player is not in the league yet. USC star JuJu Watkins received 17.9 percent of the vote, followed by Paige Bueckers (14.1 percent), Angel Reese (6.4 percent), A’ja Wilson (3.8 percent) rounded out the top five.”

Even so, the fact that Watkins came in second place despite a) not being in the WNBA yet and b) likely missing next season with a torn ACL speaks volumes about her talent.



She’s already made a big name for herself in the women’s basketball scene, and while not all players return to their level after major injuries, her talent is just too big to overlook.

For years, NBA scouts have gushed about AJ Dybantsa. He’s been either No. 1 or No. 2 in most rankings, and he enters the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball </a>season as the prospect to watch.



Nevertheless, just like all freshmen and young players, he’s not a flawless prospect. He has to work on some aspects of his game, while some analysts have doubts about his character.



Notably, that seems to be the case with Sam Vecenie of The Athletic, who, unlike most experts, has Dybantsa falling all the way to the third-overall pick in next year’s NBA Draft.

“Dybantsa probably has the highest ceiling in the class if everything goes right. But when he’s at his best, his upside is better than anyone else as the kind of apex wing that every team wants.”

Even so, Dybantsa definitely has the upside and potential to be one of the best players in the world in no time. He has to prove that he has the motor, drive, and mental strength.



The BYU Cougars and Dybantsa’s camp will certainly try to use this type of evaluation to push his buttons and motivate him, and it’ll be interesting to see how he responds on the court.

Mark Pope knew what he was getting into when he agreed to take the Kentucky Wildcats’ coaching job. He will have some big shoes to fill, and he wasn’t afraid of the challenge.



Not many people thought the Wildacts would be a contending team in his first year in charge of the program, since Coach Pope didn’t have much time to put together his roster.



Even so, he took them to the Sweet 16 with a team that he put together in a few weeks. With that in mind, renowned NCAA analyst Jon Rothstein tipped his hat to him.

I can tell you this much, he’s done it again.”

Boozer is currently the third-ranked prospect in most NBA Draft big boards right now, trailing Kansas’ Darryn Peterson and BYU AJ Dybantsa, regardless of the order.



Nevertheless, Nick Crain of Sports Illustrated believes that will change by the end of the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball </a>season, as neither of those players is more complete than Boozer.

“While each has their own legitimate case for earning that honor, depending on how the upcoming season goes, Boozer may have the most complete package of the three,” Crain started. “A combo forward with an NBA-ready frame, he’s incredibly impactful on both ends of the floor and is one of the most important archetypes in the modern NBA. With a great handle for his size, the ability to stretch the floor, along with the versatility and physicality to defend multiple positions, he would fit on any team.”

Of course, it’s still way too early to make this type of projection. Multiple players could also make their case for being the first guy off the board, and Boozer still needs to prove himself.



Whether he’s going to go first overall or not remains to be seen, but even in the worst scenario, it’s hard to envision the young forward being taken outside of the top five.

The BYU product is expected to be one of the first — if not the first — players taken in next year’s <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> Draft, showcasing an impressive combination of size and two-way versatility.



That’s why, during his days with Team USA, they asked AI to determine his most accurate NBA comparisons, and ChatGPT chose Tracy McGrady, Paul George, and LeBron James. Notably, he liked the PG comparison the most.

“I don’t really think there’s anybody compared to LeBron James. That’s crazy,” Dybantsa said. “Paul George is a two-way player, and I value defense.”

Of course, at the end of the day, there aren’t two equal players, not even twins. We have to let young prospects walk their own path and take ownership of their own journeys.



Even so, projections and comparisons are always fun, and they can help the fans know what to expect, provided they keep their expectations in check. Will he live up to these comparisons? We’ll have to wait and see.

The USC Trojans knocked on the door of a national championship last season. Led by JuJu Watkins, they felt like they could hold their ground against the crème of the crop.



Unfortunately, the superstar guard sustained a season-ending injury when it mattered the most, leaving her program quite shorthanded during the NCAA Tournament.



Now, she’s recovering and taking things one day at a time. But for today at least, she shouldn’t think about her injury. It’s her birthday, which is why Coach Lindsay Gottlieb took to Instagram to pen an emotional message for her.

Wall has repeatedly talked about his days in Lexington and how much he learned while playing for Coach Calipari. His <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> career was cut short early, but he was one of the best players of his generation.



The Wildcats may no longer have the best prospect in the nation, but they will continue to be a force to be reckoned with, and Wall will be there to root for them through thick and thin.
