Itās pretty safe to say that the New York Yankees have one of the most overpowered teams in Major League Baseball. Nonetheless, a couple of issues have held them back over the past couple of years: Pitching and Gary Sanchez.
It may sound like a bit of a stretch, but Sanchez has been terrible the past two seasons, struggling to make contact and looking even worse in defense. The team, however, continues to stick by him.
Thatās why Sanchez is reportedly in ārevenge modeā right now and looking to prove that heās one of the best catchers in the league, and his teammates are quite impressed with the shape heās in right now.
Aaron Judge, DJ LeMahieu Laud Gary Sanchez, Think He Could Win MVP
āGaryās a guy that can go out there and win AL MVP. Heās that dynamic and that important of a player to this team,ā Yankees slugger Aaron Judge said following his teamās 4-0 win over the Phillies.
āHe does seem very focused in his early work. Out to prove that heās Gary Sanchez and heās one of the best catchers in the league. He was grinding (last year), but he was always a great teammate, always positive. Heās the same guy this year, but he does seem very focused on his early work to prove that heās Gary SĆ”nchez and heās one of the best catchers in this league,ā DJ LeMahieu added.
āHeās helped drive a lot of his work ā not to say that there wasnāt in the past, but thereās just a real business-like way heās going about things. I think his foundationās a little bit better at this point than it was last year. I just feel like he looks like heās in a really good place,ā his manager concluded.
Itās clear that Sanchez still has a lot of work to do to get the fanās stamp of approval but itās always great to see a player working hard and impress his teammates with his work ethic. Hopefully, heāll finally take a step forward this season and help them put an end to theirWorld Series drought.
