The Los Angeles Dodgers executed perfectly in Game 2 against the Philadelphia Phillies to avoid a repeat of the disaster from the series opener, where they unfortunately lost their 8-game winning streak. Now back on track, they secured an impressive 3-1 victory.

The game was tight, with Sasaki as the starting pitcher not performing as cleanly as expected. However, he managed to hold off the Phillies, who despite having home-field advantage couldn’t do much to secure the win—even though Schwarber scored the game’s first run.

The reactions on X were particularly noteworthy. Phillies fans were frustrated by the number of first-pitch swings from their players, who ended up with a total of 8 strikeouts. Others pointed out issues on the mound with Nola, whose performance wasn’t as sharp as before, likely being a key factor in the loss.

Now that the series is tied, the Phillies will need to make some adjustments to try and secure the win, particularly on the mound. Nola was expected to perform well against hitters like Muncy, who delivered a surprising performance in Game 2.

Fans wanted to blame Nola

Despite the criticism directed at Nola, some rallied behind the pitcher who stayed in Philadelphia for less money, pointing out that allowing just three runs against a dangerous Dodgers lineup was commendable. The real issue lay with his teammates, who failed to produce more runs to back him up.

Stott’s costly mistake

In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Phillies had a chance to tie the game, but an unfortunate lapse in focus from Stott proved costly. Confident that Schwarber would deliver a solid hit, Stott made an ill-advised run to second base, underestimating the powerful arm of Dodgers’ Hernández. Not only did Hernández catch the ball, but he also made an incredible throw to first base for the third out, ending the inning.
