Clayton Kershaw couldn’t stay silent. His frustration was clear both during and after the final game of the series against the Milwaukee Brewers, where the Los Angeles Dodgers were swept at home and dropped into yet another losing streak.
After exiting the mound, Kershaw was seen walking toward the dugout, but once inside, he let his emotions show—slamming his glove and hat in what appeared to be a protest over two costly errors by his teammates that ultimately led to his early exit from the game.
The mistakes came from Tommy Edman, who allowed the first run for the Brewers, and Andy Pages in center field, whose miscue gave Milwaukee a major momentum shift. The Dodgers had been leading 3–0, but by the end of the fourth inning, the game was tied. It was no surprise Kershaw was visibly upset.
What did Kershaw say to his teammates?
While Kershaw didn’t call anyone out by name, he sent a clear message, saying the Dodgers need to do things better. The team is struggling through an underwhelming July, holding an 8–7 overall record and just 5–4 at home.
“They beat us. I don’t make anything of it,” Kershaw said postgame, before adding the subtle warning: “We need to play better tomorrow,” referring to the upcoming series against the Minnesota Twins.
Kershaw cut the interview short, sensing he was close to saying something he might regret. “I don’t have much to say,” he added. “I’m going to get myself in trouble so let’s just call it.”
Kershaw in 2025
Despite the frustration, Kershaw’s outing against the Brewers wasn’t terrible. He threw 4.1 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 runs (just 1 earned), and recorded 2 strikeouts. The bulk of the damage came from the defensive miscues. For the season, Kershaw now has a 4–1 record with a 3.27 ERA and 37 strikeouts across 11 starts.
