Rob Refsnyder breaks silence on Red Sox’s ongoing struggles

Unfazed by criticism, Rob Refsnyder delivered a strong and candid message about the Boston Red Sox’s recent struggles after yet another string of losses.

Rob Refsnyder sounds like a player who’s had enough. The Boston Red Sox veteran didn’t hold back when asked about the team’s struggles, which now include a multi-game losing streak and a string of close losses by just a single run.

“I’m tired of losing. I’m tired of losing close games. We just need to figure it out…” Refsnyder told NESN. Speaking after the team’s latest loss to the Brewers, Refsnyder admitted it was frustrating to waste a strong performance from starter Garrett Crochet, who struck out 11 batters.

Refsnyder also addressed the mindset inside the clubhouse, particularly in the wake of Alex Bregman’s absence. While acknowledging the challenges, he didn’t allow room for excuses: “I’m confident things will turn around…”

Frustration mounting in Boston

Despite believing in the group’s ability — “there’s a lot of talent here,” — Refsnyder made it clear that the team isn’t playing up to its potential. In what seemed like a pointed message to the clubhouse, he said: “We gotta play better.”

With the loss to Milwaukee in Game 1 of the series, Boston has now dropped three straight. Things won’t get easier — the Red Sox are headed to Atlanta next, where they already lost a MLB series to the Braves earlier this month at Fenway.
