LeBron James has always been in the spotlight. He drew comparisons to former greats of the NBA like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Kobe Bryant since day one, and the fact that he wore number 23 rubbed some Jordan fans the wrong way.
The King has always beeneager to prove that heās his own man and that thereās no need to compare him to other players. Heās established his legacy on and off the court, yet some people still continue to doubt him.
However, thatās what motivated him and drove him forward this year after missing the playoffs in his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers, as he was determined to prove that he was far from done.
LeBron Explains How His Haters Motivated Him This Season
āI think personally, thinking I had something to prove fuels me. And it fueled me over these last year and a half since my injury,ā LeBron said.āIt fueled me because no matter what Iāve done in my career up to this point thereās still a little rumblings of doubt or comparing me to the history of the game. Having that in my head and having that in my mind, saying to myself āwhy not still have something to proveā, I think it fuels me.ā James concluded.
LeBron said that he wants āhis damn respectā after winning his fourth Finals MVP award. Heās clearly sick and tired of the comparisons and people trying to demeanor what heās doing just because someone else did it first or did it better.
Thereās absolutely no need to compare when we talk about the greatest players of all time. Thereās no need to pick a side. We should just appreciate legends while we still have a chance to witness them making history, as they donāt come that often.
