LeBron James has always been in the spotlight. He drew comparisons to former greats of the NBA like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Kobe Bryant since day one, and the fact that he wore number 23 rubbed some Jordan fans the wrong way.

The King has always beeneager to prove that he’s his own man and that there’s no need to compare him to other players. He’s established his legacy on and off the court, yet some people still continue to doubt him.

However, that’s what motivated him and drove him forward this year after missing the playoffs in his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers, as he was determined to prove that he was far from done.

LeBron Explains How His Haters Motivated Him This Season

“I think personally, thinking I had something to prove fuels me. And it fueled me over these last year and a half since my injury,” LeBron said.“It fueled me because no matter what I’ve done in my career up to this point there’s still a little rumblings of doubt or comparing me to the history of the game. Having that in my head and having that in my mind, saying to myself ‘why not still have something to prove’, I think it fuels me.” James concluded.

LeBron said that he wants “his damn respect” after winning his fourth Finals MVP award. He’s clearly sick and tired of the comparisons and people trying to demeanor what he’s doing just because someone else did it first or did it better.

There’s absolutely no need to compare when we talk about the greatest players of all time. There’s no need to pick a side. We should just appreciate legends while we still have a chance to witness them making history, as they don’t come that often.
