Since the dawn of basketball, Celtics and Lakers have gone back-and-forth as the best teams in the world, even facing off multiple times in the NBA Finals with legends like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant, Kevin McHale, and Paul Pierce squaring off.

That’s why, every time those two franchises go against the other, there are always some petty comments, shots fired, and trash-talking between the fans, the players, and – surprisingly – even the media.

Boston Celtics’ Broadcast Roasts Los Angeles Lakers

That was in full display last night when the Boston Celtics hosted the Los Angeles Lakers at the TD Garden for the regular season, as Boston’s official broadcast took a hilarious and savage shot at their rivals.

Before the game even started, the broadcast showed a graphic comparing both franchises, signaling the number of Hall of Famers they had, how many wins, playoff appearances, and rings.

However, when it came to their rings, they put an asterisk next to their 17 trophies, adding that 5 of them came when they were still in Minneapolis and in Disney World. Wow, that was just ice cold.

For those who lack context, the Lakers were born in Minneapolis before moving to Los Angeles and even though they’re literally the same franchise, Celtics fans say that those rings shouldn’t count. Also, Lakers’ haters claim that last season’s win in the bubble has an asterisk next to it and call it a ā€˜Mickey Mouse Ring’.

At the end of the day, the Lakers and Celtics will continue to be the teams with the most rings in NBA history until one or the other gets another Larry O’Brien trophy. But you can’t deny that this was hilarious.
