The Los Angeles Lakersare one of the most stacked teams in the NBA right now. They added Russell Westbrook along with multiple veterans and look poised to bounce back after their disappointing end to this season.

Even so, it seems like Rob Pelinka doesn’t want to leave anything to chance. That’s why he’s still looking forward to making more moves and adding more talent to the roster ahead of the next campaign.

And, according to a recent report by Yahoo! Sports, they’ve worked out former NBA player Darren Collison, Mike James, and former Boston Celtics standout Isaiah Thomas to try and fill their final roster spot.

ā€œThe Los Angeles Lakers are actively surveying the landscape to eventually fill out the roster with more depth, and have done so in recently working out Isaiah Thomas, Darren Collison and Mike James, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

A signing is not imminent, sources said. The Lakers could also elect to bring players into training camp to fight for the last few roster spots.

The Lakers, who have 12 players under guaranteed contracts, will go into the 2021-22 season carrying 14 players in order to maintain flexibility, sources said. Each team can carry a maximum of 15 players and two two-way players.

A third point guard is a priority, sources said, along with potentially adding another wing.ā€

That means that the Lakers will most likely let Jared Dudley go, as he’s the most expendable player on their current roster right now. Needless to say, adding either of the aforementioned players would be a massive upgrade for them over Dudley.

As for Thomas, he’s coming off an 81-point performance in Seattle’s ProAm Tournament and has been bidding for a comeback for quite some time now. He was one of the most explosive scorers in the league just a handful of years ago, so hopefully, we’ll see him back out there rather sooner than later.
