Well, it didn’t take long before Kyrie Irving was back at his usual antics. Just 8 games into the season, he decided not to show up to the Brooklyn Nets clash vs. the Philadelphia 76ers, and is now unclear when he’ll join his team back.

Irving said that he just didn’t want to play vs. the Sixers and didn’t show up to the game. Moreover, he didn’t give any heads up to coach Steve Nash, and when he finally reached out to the organization, that was his response.

Some people speculate that Irving’s reaction is related to the incidents in the Capitol and the protests in Washington DC, yet he didn’t offer any clarification whatsoever despite having an obligation with the franchise.

Kyrie Irving Won’t Travel To Memphis With Brooklyn Nets

To make things even worse, it seems like the former Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics player won’t even travel with the franchise to Memphis to face the Memphis Grizzlies, once again, offering no reasoning.

This isn’t the first time that Irving pulls off a stunt like this. He recently called the media ‘pawns’ and swore that he wouldn’t talk to them this season, just to backpedal and address the press after a couple of days.

Irving is supposed to lead the Brooklyn Nets – who are paying him an absurd sum of money – to an NBA championship and step up with Kevin Durant (sidelined due to medical protocols), who wasn’t able to play.

Then again, Irving is once again becoming a massive distraction and making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. As of now, the Nets sit at a mediocre 5-4 record and his diva personality isn’t doing much to help them win games.

It’s not that Kyrie Irving isn’t entitled to some time of his own. The problem is that he’s got a responsibility to his employers and the league to at least explain what’s going on. He’s making $34,122,650 per year to play basketball, not to act like some enlightened guru who’s on another intellectual and spiritual plane than the rest of mankind.
