One of the best scorers to ever make it, Carmelo Anthony hasn't been someone who struggled to get points throughout his career. The biggest stain in his career might be not having an NBA ring to his name, but that's why he joined LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2021 free agency.

A ten-time NBA All-Star and six-time All-NBA, Melo won plenty of recognition mostly for his ability to put the ball in the net in different kinds of ways. That may have to do with him being a gifted scorer, besides hard work and practice.

But it seems like that wasn't exactly it for Carmelo. What if he had some special advice from one of the greatest names in the history of the game? Well, it seems like Michael Jordan played a big part in helping Melo produce the best version of himself.

Carmelo Anthony reveals key advice from Michael Jordan

A scoring champion in 2013 with an average of 28.7 PPG, Carmelo Anthony has always been praised for his innate ability to get buckets, but what no one knew - until now - was how MJ helped him make the best of that talent.

Talking to Barstool Sports' "Million $ Worth of the Game" podcast, the former third-overall pick said that the Chicago Bulls legend gave him a smart tip on how to average a solid number of points per game consistently:

Say you average about 28, there’s an easy way to get it. He (Jordan) said, ‘break down 7 points a quarter. That’s 2-3 layups, 2-3 free throws. You get hot one quarter, you might have 11, 12, 13 (points) one quarter, now second quarter you can pace, you get your 14 (points) in two quarters.' So, I’m like, ‘that’s crazy’ and I’m thinking about that in the games. So, next season I have almost 30 (PPG), he said, as quoted by Fadeaway World.

Carmelo didn't mention when did Michael Jordan exactly gave him this piece of advice but it seems to have been at a very important stage of his career. Needless to say, whenever MJ tells you how you can improve your game, you just take it. Apparently, it has worked perfectly for Melo, whom the Lakers acquired for his scoring abilities regardless of his age.
