It's not a secret that most scouts believed that Anthony Edwards was the only certain thing in this year's unorthodox draft. The lack of an NCAA Tourney and the short season hurt many players' draft stock, yet he seemed like a can't-miss kind of talent.

Fast-forward to today and it seems like those scouts were right about him. He hasn't been the only great player of his class but now that he's getting a longer leash, he's showing flashes of the all-time great scorer he can be.

That's why it seems like the perfect moment to recall when Michael Jordan gave him some advice to improve his game and showered him in praise during his workout with the Charlotte Hornets.

Michael Jordan Says Anthony Edwards Is Stronger, Bigger, And More Athletic Than Him

“It was mostly just, ‘Use your butt more in the post, in the mid-post,'” Edwards said. “I feel like that was the best thing he told me. He was like, ‘You’re stronger than I am. You’re more athletic. You’re bigger than me. Use your butt more and create more space and you’re gonna be unguardable.'"

The Hornets were entitled to the third overall pick of the Draft and hoped that Edwards was going to be available but the Minnesota Timberwolves ended up taking him, and with James Wiseman heading to the Golden State Warriors; Michael Jordan picked LaMelo Ball.

At the end of the day, the Hornets got the franchise player they were craving anyway and Edwards took his talents up north, but not without getting a confidence boost from the greatest to ever do it.

Thus far, Anthony Edwards is averaging 16.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.1 three-pointers per game and once he starts taking better shots, those numbers are just going to trend up. He's got a lot of catching up to do with MJ, but the physical traits are clearly there.
