The New York Knicks are having a good season after struggling for the past couple of years trying to assemble a competitive team in the Eastern Conference. The New Yorkers aren’t the best team in the NBA but they want to turn things around with their young core.
Julius Randle, RJ Barrett and the surprising Immanuel Quickley are doing a great job so far, taking their games to the next level and lifting the Knicks over several teams in the East this campaign.
Nobody is saying that they are contenders this season but Tom Thibodeau and his coaching staff have done a very good job with this team, which has become a big surprise in the league this term. Moreover, they have big plans for the future and that includes landing a big player in the next couple of weeks.
New York Knicks are reportedly interested in Zach LaVine
Chicago Bulls’ Zach LaVine has been under the radar of almost every team in the NBA this season and the Knicks aren’t the exception. They are reportedly interested in the guard and Thibs could be pushing for a reunion with his former player.
According to Ian Begley of SNY, the 63-year-old is ready to reunite with the talented dunker whose team is struggling this season. This isn’t new for the Knicks, who were interested in Zach last year but couldn’t land the player.
“Over the summer, we noted that the Knicks and Nets were both doing background work on Zach LaVine’s situation in Chicago to be prepared for the possibility of the Bulls listening to trade offers for the young guard.
“Obviously, now that Brooklyn has traded for James Harden, you can count the Nets out on LaVine. But as the 2021 trade deadline approaches, the Knicks are still keeping an eye on LaVine’s situation in Chicago, per SNY sources.”
Nobody knows how this deal will be completed or if the Knicks will win this race knowing that other squads are trying to land LaVine. He is one of the best players in the league and being in Chicago is hurting his career. New York is playing better this season and his addition could make them a very competitive team in the East.
