The Golden State Warriors remain one of the few NBA franchises yet to make a significant move this offseason. While the rest of the league stays active in trades and free-agent activity, the Warriors continue to hold off, with their primary focus centered on resolving the situation surrounding forward Jonathan Kuminga. Despite outside interest, Golden State reportedly shows no intention of entertaining proposals like the one presented by the Phoenix Suns ahead of the upcoming NBA season.
According to Brett Siegel, the Warriors have no interest in acquiring Dillon Brooks as part of trade discussions involving the Suns and Kuminga. “Phoenix has not offered, and will not involve, newly acquired wing Dillon Brooks in trade conversations this offseason, nor would the Warriors hold interest in him,” Siegel reported.
The Brooks scenario wasn’t the only trade possibility involving Phoenix. Reports suggest the Suns offered a package including Royce O’Neale, Nick Richards, and four second-round picks in exchange for Kuminga. The proposed deal featured a capable wing defender, a reliable big man, and notable draft compensation. However, ESPN’s Marc Spears noted the offer “wasn’t pretty enough” for Golden State to consider seriously.
A trade involving Dillon Brooks could have made defensive sense for the Warriors, potentially adding more toughness to a roster that already includes outspoken veterans like Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler. However, the NBA franchise may have viewed a trio with such strong personalities as a potential chemistry concern.
Meanwhile, Sacramento appears to be the most serious suitor for Kuminga. ESPN’s Marc Spears reported that Kuminga is interested in a move to the Kings. “He wants to go,” Spears said. “The Kings are offering a starting spot at power forward next to Keegan Murray and Domantas Sabonis. He’s spoken on Zoom with Scott Perry, BJ Armstrong, and head coach Mike Brown. He’s in. He wants to go there, but the Warriors don’t like the first offer.”

The saga now seems to be nearing its conclusion. After hearing from the Suns, the Kings, and even the Bulls, the Warriors have reportedly shut down all discussions around a potential sign-and-trade deal for Kuminga, standing firm on their valuation of the 22-year-old.
According to reporting from Anthony Slater and Shams Charania, the Warriors remain unimpressed by any of the offers they’ve received and are now mentally preparing to keep Kuminga on the roster for the 2025-26 season.
“The Warriors, as of right now, have shunned all sign-and-trade offers,” Charania said on SportsCenter alongside Slater and Malika Andrews. “What we’re seeing is a stalemate, with both sides at a crossroads. Kuminga believes he hasn’t received a full opportunity in Golden State.”
Slater added: “They are shutting down sign-and-trade talks and have found nothing appealing there. Their stance is that he will be on the roster to start next season. And if that means he plays on the qualifying offer, then that’s what it will be.”
