Paul George recently signed a huge contract extension with the Los Angeles Clippers after stating that he wanted to be a part of the franchise until retirement. And even though he can still have a couple of years left in his career once his deal runs out, it seems like heās going to live by that promise.
However, Georgeās reputation has taken a massive hit around the NBA community lately. Itās not just because of his constant empty promises of āwanting to finish his careerā with whichever team he plays, itās not even because of the underperforming in the playoffs, itās just because of all the talking heās done.
George has blamed everybody but him for the Clippersā meltdown in the playoffs. Heās been making excuses for months after talking a lot of trash and mocking Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers.
Paul George Says Heās Extra Locked In Ahead Of Next Season
And rather than being humble after such an embarrassing loss in the playoffs, George just kept on calling people out, this time saying that heās finally healthy and back with the trainer he had during his MVP season:
āIām back with my trainer that I had my MVP season. Iām locked in, as locked in as you can be⦠Iām on motherf**kerās asses this year,ā Paul George told Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes in āAll The Smokeā.
However, there are a couple of things that just donāt add up. For starters, George had already said that he was back at 100% before the start of the playoffs. Now, heās saying that he was hurt and that took a toll on his game.
And more importantly, he talks about his MVP season, yet heās never won an MVP. He was a candidate a couple of years ago, tho, but didnāt even finish as a runner-up. That tells you just enough about how he feels about himself despite his lack of accomplishments in the league.
Then again, George is one of the most talented and impactful two-way players in the world. Thatās why his teams suffer that much when heās a no-show. But if anyone can silence his critics and help the Clippers win their first-ever NBA championship, thatās him.
