The Los Angeles Clippers are once again the most disappointing team in the NBA. Thus far, they canāt seem to have an answer for the Dallas Mavericks and are at serious risk of being swept despite having homecourt advantage.
Tyronn Lueās team couldnāt execute down the stretch in Game 1 and suffered a big upset. They didnāt make the slightest adjustment for the second game of the series and the outcome was pretty much the same.
The Clippers canāt seem to find a way to stopLuka Doncic. But more than that, it looks like theyāre unwilling to even try, as they continue to send Patrick Beverley at him ā instead of Kawhi Leonard or Paul George ā or even double-team him.
Paul George And Tryonn Lue Arenāt Worried After Falling 0-2 To The Dallas Mavericks
Despite falling to a 0-2 hole, Paul George is unbothered by the situation. According to the former Pacers star, thereās no level of concern in the Clippers locker room, which is even more worrying given the situation:
āWe have to rise to the occasion. Fact of the matter is if we donāt, weāre done for. But thereās no level of concern⦠Dallas is free, theyāre playing with confidence. I think weāre giving them a little bit too much confidence,ā George told the media after the game.
Tyronn Lue offered pretty much the same response. He claims that the Mavericks had no pressure or sense of urgency because they were playing on the road and that now itās their turn to deliver:
āIām not concerned. We gotta win four games and you come onto the opposing teamās floor and you play, thereās no pressure on you to make shots because youāre just trying to come in and steal one game or two games. Now they gotta go home and try to keep up the same shooting. Itās easy to come on the road and do that when thereās no pressure,ā Lue said.
That statement makes as little sense as Lueās defensive assignments or the Clippersā help defense. They have their backs against the wall and are in serious jeopardy of becoming the leagueās laughing stock. Again.
Also, Kahwi Leonard is expected to become a free agent at the end of the season, and even though rumors say that heās looking forward to resigning with them, a first-round exit ā let alone a sweep ā might as well change his mind.
