The Golden State Warriors find themselves in a pressure-packed position as the NBA regular season winds down. With just a few games left, the team controls its own destiny in the Western Conference playoff race—but any slip-ups could relegate them to the Play-In Tournament. For the Warriors, the formula is simple: win, and get some help from other results around the league. Draymond Green commented on Stephen Curry mindset.

Veteran forward Draymond Green, speaking on The Draymond Green Show, praised Stephen Curry for rising to the occasion as the stakes get higher.

“We’re right in the thick of things,” Green said. We control our own destiny to guarantee a playoff spot. After every game, Steph’s like, ‘Meaningful basketball.’ It’s not just hype—it’s the opportunity to play games that matter.”

Green also believes Curry deserves a spot on the All-NBA First Team for the way he’s led the team through adversity. He’s been locked in,” Green added. “He’s ramping up at the right time. I think he’s making a real case to grab that last First Team spot.”

Stephen Curry sounds off after Spurs loss

As the Warriors navigate a tight playoff race, they’ve had little margin for error—something that was highlighted after a disappointing loss to the lowly San Antonio Spurs earlier this week. Curry, visibly frustrated postgame, made it clear that the team’s focus needs to be sharper heading into Friday night’s clash with the Portland Trail Blazers. “A good team takes care of business the next two and goes from there,” Curry said via 95.7 The Game. “We have to prove we’re a good team.”

The Western Conference picture

The Western Conference remains tightly packed with playoff implications on the line. As of now, five teams are battling for three guaranteed NBA postseason spots. The Denver Nuggets and LA Clippers share identical 48–32 records, while the Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies, and Minnesota Timberwolves are all sitting at 47–33.

Denver clinches a top-six seed with a win and a loss by the Warriors, Clippers, or Timberwolves. The Clippers can do the same with a win and a loss by the Nuggets, Warriors, or Wolves. For Golden State, a win paired with losses by both Memphis and Minnesota would be enough to lock in a playoff berth.

The Warriors know what’s at stake. With Stephen Curry leading the charge and Draymond Green anchoring the defense, Golden State is hoping experience and execution can carry them over the line—and avoid the Play-In altogether.
