The NFC North is shaping up to be more competitive than ever, and the Chicago Bears don’t want to be mere bystanders at the party. With Ben Johnson at the helm, Caleb Williams and the team will be looking to make a splash, though, unfortunately for them, they’ll have to do so without one of their historic players on the roster.
The objective is clear: to go head-to-head with their divisional rivals. It won’t be easy, of course, as the Vikings, Packers, and Lions all aim to be serious contenders for the title next season.
In the Windy City, it’s a time of change, and many are dreaming of becoming that hard-to-beat team. There have been many ins and outs on the roster, but the same feeling remains: to be a contender and reach the much-desired Super Bowl.
A veteran departs Chicago
The Bears are embarking on a new journey toward the final game without one of their most seasoned players of recent years. The latest news indicates Patrick Scales’ decision to seek new opportunities this offseason. In a heartfelt statement on his Instagram account, the long snapper put an end to an eight-year tenure in Chicago.
“Words will never be able to describe our gratitude for the city of Chicago, the Chicago Bears organization, or the fans who have cheered us on and loved us through the years,” Scales wrote.

“Cheers to the best friends who helped us get here, the family we made throughout the years, and the memories that we’ll cherish forever. Chicago, you were a dream come true and you’ll always feel like home.
“Our kids know no life without you, Chicago Bears, and raising them with you was the biggest honor of our life. Thank you to the McCaskey family, who truly feel like family to us. We cherish & love you forever. It is truly an honor to play for the NFL & we’re excited and hopeful for what’s next, but we’ll never forget the team who have us everything & got us here today. Bear Down, baby.”

Scales’ extensive NFL career
Scales first landed in Chicago in 2015, where he had his most significant tenure with an NFL franchise. Before joining the Bears, however, the long snapper had played for several other teams.
He signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2011, then had stints with the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets in 2013, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014, before returning to the Ravens briefly in 2014. His time in Chicago marked the longest and most consistent period of his professional career.
Even though he didn’t have a contract with the franchise, the former Utah State Aggies player decided to end his stay in the Windy City and will now seek new paths in his career.
