Starting with the upcoming NFL season, Caleb Williams will have a new leader at the helm from the sidelines. Ben Johnson left his position with the Lions to move to the Windy City, and together with the former USC Trojans star, they aim to form a dynamic duo that’s bound to turn heads in the season ahead.
In a recent conversation with the press, Williams expressed his excitement about working alongside Johnson and revealed what he believes will be the key to their success together with the team in the next season.
“Us growing together is key. Starting now. Him pushing me is key. I know that, and he knows that,” the talented quarterback said from Halas Hall as the Bears opened offseason workouts this week.
Williams will begin his second season leading Chicago and expressed great excitement about facing this new challenge, stating that he feels much more confident than he did during his rookie season.

Caleb Williams #18 of the Chicago Bears looks on during warmups before playing the Los Angeles Rams at Soldier Field on September 29, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois.
“I’m super excited about it,” he said. “Being able to be in this position, being able to have a first year the way I did — ups and downs — and then to be able to come in here as confident as I was last year or possibly even more and to be able to get here with the group that we have, I really can’t wait to get to work with these guys.”

Williams’ ambition to keep growing
If there’s one thing Caleb Williams is certain of, it’s that he hasn’t yet shown all of his talent since arriving in the NFL. With Ben Johnson’s arrival as the new head coach, the QB is confident he can unleash his full potential and lead the Bears deep into the NFC North.
“If you have that position right, it helps with a bunch of different things,” Williams said. “Building that bond, (Johnson) pushing me and us growing together for years to come is going to be fun. I can’t wait, and to be able to help me learn more about ball because he’s super smart, super sharp.”
It will be a matter of seeing how Chicago’s game develops starting from Week 1 and whether this new QB-HC duo can make some noise in the league this season.
