Hall of Famer quarterback Brett Favre had some tough choice of words towards Carson Wentz during the Philadelphia Eaglesā embarrassing loss to the New York Giants for Week 10 of the NFL season.
He questioned whether Doug Pederson and the Eagles made the right choice by passing on Nick Foles after he led them to a Super Bowl win and continue to trust Wentz, whoās been struggling mightily all year.
Thatās why he had to reach out to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk to clear the air on his words, claiming that he doesnāt have a problem with Pederson but that he still doesnāt think that Wentz is the right guy to lead them going forward.
Brett Favre Believes Carson Wentz Is Pressing Too Much
The legendary quarterback stated that he feels like Carson Wentz is just trying to do too much every time heās on the gridiron, and thatās exactly the reason why heās making so many blatant and avoidable mistakes:
āMaybe heās pressing. Thereās certainly reasons that weāre not privy to, because weāre not in their meetings, weāre not in their day-to-day operations. I look at it from when I evaluate a quarterback, you know, thereās those that when everything is going well you want them in the lineup. Theyāre not going to hurt you. But then when the chips are down, you need a play, itās all or nothing, weāre behind, or all of our receivers hurt, weāve got a Band-Aid group of guys that, when that guy can elevate those players, you know, take Aaron Rodgers ā and of course heās in a different stratosphere ā but it doesnāt matter who plays receiver for them. He makes it look so easy. Thatās what youāre looking for,ā Favre started.
Brett Favre Is Unsure About Wentzās Ability To Lead The Eagles
Wentz entered the season as a talented and promising gunslinger but he hasnāt been the same since that season-ending injury he suffered during the Eaglesā Super Bowl-winning season. Now, Favre questions whether heās actually good or just OK:
āAnd every guy is different, you know? Drew Brees is a different dynamic quarterback than Aaron Rodgers. But when heās in there, he makes it look easy. And certainly Tom Brady, you know, Russell Wilson, they make the average Joeās better. They make an average team or maybe an above average team better, year in and year out. And thatās what youāre looking for, to me, thatās what youāre looking for. Because theyāve had a lot of injuries. Thereās no question. Carson is not immune to it himself, but theyāre just OK, and for a lot of reasons, but can he make us better than OK? Or can someone else make us better than OK? Thatās the question,ā Brett concluded.
The Eagles have Jalen Hurts patiently waiting in line until he gets his turn to prove his worth. Should Philly continue to slide, he could even start a couple of games towards the end of the season, even though Wentz got a lot of guaranteed money in his last contract.
