Chad Wheeler has become one of the most famous NFL players in recent days and not precisely because of something good he did but the exact opposite, as he made headlines for the wrong reasons you could think of.
The Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman was put in jail over the weekend after assaulting his girlfriend, whom he believed was dead at some point. Wheeler reportedly appeared in King County District Court; he was ordered to surrender all his weapons and not have any contact with the victim after the incident.
His bail was reportedly set at $400,000, which he paid, sparking a lot of reactions around the league. This was outrageous for the NFL and world of sports in general, as Wheeler almost killed his girlfriend and acted like nothing was happening.
NFL Twitter trashes Chad Wheeler after domestic violence incident
According to the Seattle Times, the 27-year-oldbelieved his girlfriend was dead and he ate his dinner while the girl was laying on the floor. The woman called 911 and that’s when they showed up to the couple’s apartment, with the lady still screaming, asking for help.
“The report said the incident began when Wheeler asked the victim to bow to him, and when she did not he grabbed her and threw her on a bed.
The report said Wheeler then strangled the victim before she lost consciousness. The report also said when she regained consciousness, Wheeler was standing near the bed and said, ‘Wow you’re alive?'”
NFL fans took to Twitter to share their anger with this situation, especially with the fact that Wheeler is still a free man and the woman could have lost her life if she didn’t call the authorities.

I hope there will be no double standard in the justice. Domestic violence is unacceptable, and if the act is true he should be accountable and treated the same way as African Americans athletes who have been accused of similar acts was treated.

So Kaepernick was booed out and turned away from the league for taking a knee over police violence against black people. But this guy who attacks women …. well thats ok? Me thinks NOT…. drum this prick out NOW. Time we said NO to domestic violence.
— Al (@deepbluethinker) January 27, 2021
Released? Are you kidding me? Did you see the pictures of what he did to his girlfriend ? There is NO EXCUSE for this whatsoever. His ass should NEVER be able to play in the NFL after this….
— Terri Weidner (@TerriLatersBaby) January 27, 2021
AB, AP, Ray Lewis, Tyreke hill, Mixon, Elliot, Vick, and hunt would all like a word lmao. This has literally happened to black nfl players. The nfl sucks at handling this shit no matter what
— MO BOBBA (@MOBOBBA2166) January 28, 2021
What I see happening is he gets released from the Seahawks (He’s a back up player) & he gets a court ordered psychiatric therapy. Career is likely over but they will use his documented history of mental illness to not give him any real jail time.

How is this an Assault-Domestic Violence case? They lady said he was surprised she was a still alive while sipping on a smoothie. Am I missing something here?

WTF why is this animal out of jail.
— RJ (@Playmakers88) January 27, 2021
Chad Wheeler of the @Seahawks tried to kill his girlfriend because she wouldn’t bow to him. He was even surprised at her survival.
If you’re not outraged, you’re part of the problem. @NFL handle this swiftly & decisively. pic.twitter.com/R2IF1HwMow

Hmmmm…..black man linked to dog fighting ring loses everything and goes to jail. Still to this day is vilified. But a white punk (notice I didn’t say man cus real men don’t put hands on women) almost kills someone, a black female at that, and can go on with his livelihood smh
— Dwayne Parker (@parker_dlevip) January 27, 2021
The fact that he still plays football is amazing…but not surprising. Plenty of NFL players that abuse their spouse, do drugs, get DUIs that still play. @NFL doesn’t care what you do off the field…only what you do on.

Kareem kicked a girl for calling him a n*gger and was backlashed horribly! I think the fact this guys story says it’s being “investigated” is ridiculous no one cares about black women! PERIOD

THE STORY!! This man is sick!

Seahawks’ Chad Wheeler isn’t being discussed much, but he should be. There are some absolutely terrifying accusations of felony domestic violence against his girlfriend. He was arrested, and released on a 400k bond on Tuesday.
— Taylor Rooks (@TaylorRooks) January 27, 2021
@AdamSchefter be quick to post about other athletes getting into trouble but nothing about this situation
— ✨ (@Champagnephilly) January 27, 2021
I heard about the case. I saw a picture of the victims face. Dude should be thrown out of the league if found guilty.
— Dan The Man (@TheDannyboy1990) January 27, 2021
I don’t understand how he was released. (I know it was on bond) but I mean cmon… that dude shouldn’t be out.
— marcell (@MarcellMyslak) January 27, 2021
Chad wheeler if I ever run across you
We are going toe to toe because I wouldn’t mind making the news breaking something across your fucking head then ask you are you still alive?..I know 1 thing the media don’t mind destroying the black athletes without the facts
— Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) January 27, 2021
Shoutout to @nateburleson for going off script this morning at the end of @gmfb to bring up the disturbing arrest of Chad Wheeler. He caught everyone off guard by mentioning it, and it was absolutely the right thing to do.

I am not going to repost the pictures of Chad Wheeler’s victim, but if this horrible situation isn’t seen in the context of hate crime, journalists are being irresponsible. I’m also wondering why this isn’t considered attempted murder.
— Jemele Hill (@jemelehill) January 27, 2021
.@minakimes on Chad Wheeler, former Seahawks OL who was arrested on suspicion of felony assault-domestic violence.

— shannon sharpe (@ShannonSharpe) January 27, 2021
This is terrible. Chad Wheeler needs banned from the NFL for life. And his ass should be in prison. https://t.co/1NOtro94wt
— Matt Miller (@nfldraftscout) January 27, 2021
Chad Wheeler should never be allowed to step onto an NFL field ever again.
— gabb (@gabbgoudy) January 27, 2021
Mannn I hope this dude Chad Wheeler gets what’s coming to him. Absolutely WILD that I haven’t seen this story on the front page EVERYWHERE. I hope the young lady has a speedy recovery and is kept safe!
— Darius Butler (@DariusJButler) January 27, 2021
The Seahawks revealed that Wheeler is no longer part of the team and the NFL community is waiting to see how the league will handle this situation. This could have been worse for the victim and Wheeler is still free. In days where we should be talking about the Super Bowl and all the happiness it’ll bring, the NFL world is asking for justice for an innocent woman.
