Cowboys key player sends positive message to Dak Prescott ahead of 2025 NFL season

The Dallas Cowboys are the most mediatic team in the NFL. However, what they would like is to be the most successful franchise. Dak Prescott received positive news about a weapon that could help the team bolster its chances.

The Dallas Cowboys need all the help they need to be a protagonist in the NFL once again. Dak Prescott, the quarterback of the team, just received a positive update regarding the level of one key weapon, tight end Jake Ferguson.

Ferguson went to the Pro-Bowl during the 2023 season. However, his 2024 was an absolute nightmare. On Week 1, he suffered a knee sprain that limited his level of play and also making him miss one game. Then, Week 11 saw Ferguson suffer a concussion that sidelined him for another two games.

Beyond the physical limitations, Ferguson’s numbers weren’t nothing to brag about. He caught 59 passes for 494 yards and didn’t sniff the endzone. Of course, Ferguson has come out and say he’s ready to roll and bounce back, something his quarterback might be very fond of. “I definitely wasn’t satisfied with how I played all last year,” Ferguson added.

Ferguson will have help on the receiving side

While Ferguson wants to bounce back, the Cowboys have reinforced their wide receiving crew. While Dallas has CeeDee Lamb, arguably a top 5 receiver in the NFL, they still brought a new face. That is George Pickens. The former Steeler will be a massive player to have for this season.

Pickens spent his first three years in the NFL at Pittsburgh. His last season, he posted 900 yards and 3 touchdowns in a sub-par offense. He is stellar on 50-50 balls and can be a deep threat for the Cowboys too. Add that to the 1,194 yards and 6 touchdowns that CeeDee Lamb racked up and you have one of the best duos in the league.

This means that Ferguson doesn’t need to be the biggest name on the offense. He has to focus on being a great target on short-to-medium routes and win key yards.

Dallas has a tough road to success

The NFC East is a tough division right now. The Philadelphia Eagles are the Super Bowl champions and the Washington Commanders just went to the NFC Championship Game with rookie Jayden Daniels under center. That instantly puts the Cowboys as the third out of four teams within the division, just above the New York Giants.

Winning the division alone is a tough task. Imagine winning it all. Not to mention, the Cowboys have a debutant at the head coach position in Brian Schottenheimer. While the offense might make numbers, the Cowboys need way more to win a Super Bowl win.
