NFL News: Dak Prescott sends a clear message about his future and legacy with Cowboys

Dak Prescott isn't mincing words about what matters most to him in Dallas. As he enters a pivotal season, the Cowboys quarterback made it clear: his focus is on winning a championship, not chasing a legacy.

Dak Prescott sent a strong message about his future with the Dallas Cowboys and the legacy he wants to leave as one of the franchise’s most important players. The goal is very clear.

“I want to win a championship. The legacy and the things, whatever comes after I finish playing, will take care of itself. I want to win a championship. I’ll be damned if it’s just for my legacy or for this team or for my personal being, for my sanity. The legacy will take care of itself. I have to stay where my feet are.”

The challenge will be huge for Prescott considering the Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl in nearly three decades and haven’t even appeared in an NFC Championship Game during that period. Adding to that, if the NFC East is perhaps the toughest division in the league, Dallas is in trouble.

Has Dak Prescott been to a Super Bowl?

No. Dak Prescott has not been to a Super Bowl after playing nine seasons for the Dallas Cowboys. Despite having very solid regular seasons—like in 2023, when he was an MVP candidate—he hasn’t been able to take the franchise to the next level in the playoffs.

“It’s been super fast. No. It’s not hard to be reflective. I think you have to, especially with how they’ve been (years of his career). Some being injured, some getting to knocking on the door and not finishing it. What it does really is just makes you grateful for the opportunity. Every day you walk into this building. You’re healthy. So, for me, it’s about not taking anything for granted.”
